Here’s hoping you’re well-rested today. A short newsletter this week, but as always, lots of love.
thoughts at large.
This year I hosted my family for Thanksgiving. I’ve been in my home for almost two years now, and I’m finally starting to settle in. When I bought my house, I knew I wanted it to be a place for my people to come, feel safe, warm, and loved. Mission accomplished.
I also cooked dinner for everyone, and between TikTok recipes and my background knowledge of watching my mom and grandmother in the kitchen… everything was good!
All the time spent in the kitchen was worth it. If I had to do it all again I would. Time is limited, and making memories with the people we love is essential. There’s so much weird stuff happening around us in the world - and I just don’t take any interactions for granted anymore. I hope you get to spend time with the people you care about this holiday season. You owe it to yourself, and to them.
reads + vibes.
We’re heavy on the vibes this week - here are a few things you can watch & listen to on this long weekend:
“Fantasy Football”, starring Marsai Martin, Kelly Rowland, and Omari Hardwick is now streaming on Paramount+. It’s about a teenage girl who finds out that she has the ability to control her football player dad through the video game Madden!
I personally enjoy a good Hallmark/Lifetime Christmas movie with Black faces. BET+ has a bunch of new holiday movies on the app - I watched “The First Noelle” this week and it was cute. I’d recommend that one - and over the next few weeks I’ll keep you updated because between OWN and BET+ there will be plenty of chocolate holiday movie moments for us to enjoy in December!
If you like feel-good R&B like me - you should get into the new album “Euphonyus” from PhonyPpl. If you like The Internet, you’ll probably enjoy them too. I really like “take it easy.” but the entire album is great. Listen & let me know what you think: apple | spotify
In next week’s newsletter, I’ll share a playlist filled with what I’ve been listening to lately, and my recommendations. Let me know if there’s anything I should be checking out!
That’s all for this week. I’m grateful for you. If you enjoy this newsletter, please share it with a few friends.
