summer refresh.
what i'm doing to gear up for the second half of the year + reads & vibes for your weekend.
Happy Friday friend! Let’s jump right in:
thoughts at large.
The beginning of June means we’re near the midpoint of the year, which is crazy because it feels like New Year’s Eve was yesterday! Time really flies when you’re having fun - or when you’re stuck in an endless loop of monotony in your job. 😂
Last weekend felt like the unofficial kickoff to summer, so I started my summer refresh. What does that mean for me? Well:
I cleaned up my physical space. I won’t lie to you, my room was looking so crazy - for weeks. When my space is cluttered or in disarray, I can’t really focus (or find anything.) So by taking the time to clean and reorganize my space, I now have the space and clarity to do more creatively. I’m sleeping better, and thus I’m feeling better.
I revisited goals I set at the top of the year. I know we’re all trying different ways to manage our goals, but when you get into the work and have competing priorities, the personal goals you set for yourself can sometimes get left by the wayside. I’m here to encourage you to pick them right back up. Remember why you set them, and if necessary adapt them to meet the time constraints you have left. To be honest, you really don’t need to worry about a constraint, you set the time. Just work toward what you want to see in your life.
I started speaking about what I want the rest of this year to look like for me. There is power in speaking the things that you desire to see actualized in your life. I don’t know what you do, but I spent some time in prayer, just talking to God about what I want to see change in my life, what I’d like to continue, and even what I’d like to stop. This works for me, but maybe you need to set aside time to meditate or talk to a friend that you trust.
I started to be intentional about finding my joy. This weekend, I’m going somewhere I’ve never been before, spending time with a friend I haven’t seen in years, and doing something that I love - listening to live music! I’m excited that we have Summer Fridays at our firm, and I’m looking forward to taking advantage of them… because what’s life if we’re not living and enjoying it?
If you take anything from this - I hope that you receive this: we have the ability to make a change at any point. It doesn’t necessarily have to be seasonal, but if there is something that isn’t working, there is nothing stopping you from changing your reaction to your situation. We don’t have control over everything, but we do have control over our responses. What are you doing to refresh as the new season rolls in?

There will be a new comic book in the Creed Series - set 10 years after CREED III following Amara Creed in her boxing career. To me - this means there is space for a new CREED film as well! What do you think?
Saturday night - check out the TLC documentary on Lifetime and A&E. It comes on at 8/7C… and you can see the trailer below.
The people said they needed a song of the summer - Latto & Cardi B may have just delivered it. Check out the remix to Put It On The Floor here. (Warning, content not safe for work)
That’s all for this week friends. I hope your June is off to a great start! Next week I’ll share highlights from my trip! For now though…
