It’s Friday! Friday, Aye Aye Aye! This letter is late - and that tells you what kind of week I’ve had. 😬 Thank you for reading as usual. If you enjoy, consider sharing this with people you care about.
thoughts at large.
Today is March 31st, and we’ve reached the end of the first quarter of 2023. Can you believe it?
As I was going through my quarterly work evaluation (it went well!) a light bulb went off in my head.💡
Why don’t we do the same things for our personal lives and projects? The end of a quarter is a perfect time to re-assess and realign.
If you’re like me - you probably started the year with a plan in mind. But we all know that life be life-ing! Things change. But as long as we’re alive, we have another opportunity to get back on track.
We’ve got about 9 weeks before Memorial Day Weekend which is the unofficial beginning of summer. All the goals we have are still attainable.
Often times we invest in other people’s visions and forget our own. It’s time to pick them back up. We don’t exist just to live unfulfilled. Each of us has a unique gift and offering that we have to impact our communities, some of us may even have something inside of us that’s meant to change the world. We’re doing a disservice to everyone by not following up on the dreams and goals we have for ourselves.
The biggest thing I want to drive home to you is - we can’t give up friend! Just because you didn’t make it happen in the time you set for yourself, doesn’t mean that you can’t do it at all. Let’s refocus our attention on what we set out to do this year. You got it, friend. Get some people to hold you accountable and make it happen!
need you to know.
Donald Trump got indicted by a grand jury yesterday. We should be paying attention to how his supporters react. Keep your head on a swivel.
A school in Florida banned the Disney movie chronicling the story of Ruby Bridges. This is just the beginning of an intentional erasure of the issues Black people have faced in this country for generations.
Social Security will not be able to pay full benefits in 2034 if Congress doesn’t act. I think millennials know that we won’t be able to rely on SS for our retirement, but who knew the end would come so soon?
The RESTRICT Act Would Restrict a Lot More Than TikTok - If you couldn’t tell by the questions posed to TikTok’s CEO, our representatives don’t know anything about TikTok, and it was NEVER about just banning this app. I encourage you to read more about the Restrict Act and tell your reps not to vote for it.

College Hoops Stars Are the Real Beauty Influencers via Boardroom (is it me, or is the Women’s NCAA Tournament way more lit than the Men’s this year?)
LeBron James’ promise to Akron gets more ambitious via Andscape (More reasons to see LeBron as a king.)
“If you’re convicted of beating on a woman…”: Jonathan Majors’ Kang To Be Recast if Things Go Bad, Claims Insider via Fandomwire (I’ve been quiet about this, but if he did what he was accused of doing, this was one of the biggest bag fumbles of all time, and I will not feel bad for him.)
A Thousand And One, the new film starring Teyana Taylor, is in theaters today. It won the jury prize at Sundance, and it looks like it’s going to be a tear-jerker. Let me know if you plan on seeing it.
The next set of episodes from Love is Blind season 4 are out now, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any messier. It did. We may have to set up a chat to talk about this one.
Chloe Bailey’s debut album “In Pieces” is available for streaming now. I like “Worried”, “Make It Look Easy” and “Told Ya” - Tell me what you think after you listen here: Apple | Spotify
Jhene Aiko released a brand new song today as well, and it came at the right time for me! It’s absolutely beautiful, and a reminder that God’s always got us. It’s definitely giving gospel! Listen to “calm & patient” here: Apple | Spotify
I’ll also be updating The Update Weekly playlist with some more vibes. It’s here: Apple | Spotify
It’s Final Four Weekend! Make sure you watch a few games! Just know I’m pulling for South Carolina in the Women’s Tourney.
It’s up!
