From Final Four to the Draft: Women's Hoops Is The Moment
Inside the rise of women’s basketball, NIL shakeups, and the WNBA’s next stars.
The game is changing—and I’ve had a front-row seat to watch it all unfold.
From soaking in the energy at the Women’s Final Four in Tampa to diving into panel discussions on NIL and athlete branding, this past week has been a masterclass in the power and possibility of women’s sports. We’re watching the rise of a movement—fueled by talent, storytelling, and community—and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s next.
This edition of Unwrapped is for the culture keepers, the playmakers, and the storytellers who know that this moment is about more than just what happens on the court.
Let’s get into it.
Suite Life at the Women’s Final Four
I spent the weekend in Tampa with adidas and my Community Lab cohort for the Women’s Final Four—and let me tell you, the vibes were off the charts.
Between the sold-out arena, the star-studded panels, and the energy pulsing through every corner of the city, you could feel just how much momentum is behind women’s basketball. I had the chance to meet college standouts, WNBA legends, media folks, and creatives who are all working to elevate the game.
While UConn came out on top, every team in the Final Four left a lasting impression. More than anything, the weekend reminded me of the possibilities that exist for women in sports—not just as athletes, but as leaders, founders, changemakers, and community builders.
NIL + The Transfer Portal = Game On
The transfer portal and NIL have completely changed college sports—and if March Madness was any indication, we’re only scratching the surface of what this new era looks like.
Players are now making decisions that impact not only their athletic careers, but also their marketability, earning potential, and long-term brand. The game isn’t just about performance anymore—it’s about presence, platform, and power.
As athletes gain more control, they also need more tools. And that’s where education, mentorship, and real strategy come in. Whether it’s helping an athlete tell their story or preparing them to negotiate their first brand deal, we all have a role to play in ensuring they thrive—on and off the court.
