Happy Friday! Friends - May came in here and is getting up out of here quickly! We’re close to the end which means summer is not far away! Let’s jump in:
thoughts at large.
Let’s talk about taking up space. I went out last night to an event at A Ma Maniere called “Free Game” - it was a conversation with James Whitner, who is the CEO of The Whitaker Group.
I’ve been a super fan of the brand for a minute, but a couple of hours before the event, I was psyching myself up to go. Sometimes after work, it takes a lot for me to want to go out, drive into the city, and be social. I spend the day talking, so normally by the end of the day I’m over it all - but based on my personal goals, I have been challenging myself to move beyond my comfort zone.
So that’s what I did last night, and I’m so glad. I asked a couple of questions, one about the impact of storytelling and one about The Whitaker Group’s investment in storytelling, and one about why it’s been so important for them to center women in those stories. I got to meet some amazing people and give flowers to a few people that I admire. All in all, a great night.
The lesson in all of this: it’s important to start taking up space. When I attend events like this, I’ve found myself being quiet, soaking up information, but not really contributing to the conversation. Last night I was intentional about adding my voice. I honestly believe that we do everyone a disservice when we don’t share our knowledge and wisdom. We don’t know who needs it.
It's time to throw away those self-doubts, embrace your uniqueness, and claim your rightful spot in this world. Whether you're juggling careers, relationships, or personal growth, remember that you deserve to be seen, heard, and valued. Here are a few reminders:
1. Embrace Your Authenticity 🌺
We live in a world that constantly pressures us to fit into molds and meet society's expectations. But guess what? You are beautifully unique, with a story that's entirely your own. Embrace your quirks, passions, and dreams because they are what makes you exceptional. Remember, authenticity is magnetic, so let your true self shine brightly!
2. Confidence is Key 🔑
Confidence isn't about being flawless or having all the answers; it's about recognizing your worth and trusting your abilities. Banish those self-doubts and negative thoughts. Celebrate your strengths and accomplishments, big or small. Remember that you have the power to conquer challenges and achieve great things. Own that confidence, and the world will take notice!
3. Create Boundaries and Prioritize Self-Care 🌼
In a fast-paced world, setting boundaries that protect your time, energy, and well-being is crucial. Give yourself permission to say no to things that drain you, and yes to activities that nourish your soul. Remember that self-care isn't selfish; it's essential for mental, emotional, and physical health. Take time to recharge, indulge in your passions, and surround yourself with positive influences.
4. Amplify Your Voice 📣
Your thoughts, opinions, and experiences matter. Don't shy away from expressing yourself and standing up for what you believe in. Speak your truth, contribute to conversations, and empower others with your words. Remember, your voice can inspire change and create a ripple effect that can shape the world around you.
Remember, dear millennial trailblazers, you have the power to create the life you desire. Keep pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and taking up space with your boldness and brilliance. You are capable, deserving, and destined for greatness. So, go out there, shine brightly, and make your voice heard in the world!
Love you, mean it.
